Plano Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic

What is Sorority Recruitment?

Sorority Recruitment is the process of selection for sorority membership. It is the privilege of alumnae to “recommend” girls for membership. It is the responsibility of active members to “select” girls for sisterhood. You choose a sorority and a sorority chooses you! It is a mutual experience designed to produce a happy association. Sorority membership is for life. It is a joining with other women of your choice to embark on a wonderful adventure of friendship and activity that will last through the years.

Belonging to a sorority is not the essence of university life but it is a rich addition that will broaden your friendships, encourage your academic achievement, support your high ideals, and offer you another way to grow and discover yourself.Belonging to a sorority involves commitment – to the goals and ideals of the sorority you have chosen, to your sorority sisters, and to yourself.

Do not make up your mind about joining any sorority until you have met its active chapter members. Remember, you are not joining a ‘name’ but are choosing a closely knit group in which you expect to make lasting friendships in college and alumnae life. Sorority membership is a lifetime investment in friendship. As an alumna member opportunities for personal growth and development will continue in community service and philanthropic projects. Wherever you live there will be a group of sorority sister close by to help you get established in the community. Alumnae membership can also provide you important business contacts in your chosen profession. You will get out of any sorority just as much, if not more, than you put into it.

When your final decision is being made during your preferential signing at the end of recruitment, you, the potential member, are urged to list more than one group, in preferential order, when indicating the sororities in which you are interested in joining.

So – GO THROUGH RECRUITMENT!!!!! Get to know the variety of sorority girls waiting to meet you. Go with curiosity, friendliness, and confidence in your own uniqueness. Go with an open mind. Above all, be yourself, relax, and have fun! If you don’t participate in recruitment then you cannot allow yourself the opportunity to pledge. If you decide you like what you see and want to pledge, then do it! Whether you decide to pledge or not, you will have made a wider circle of friends during Recruitment Week.
